Strap tensions the load
Strapping is a band pulled tight around a pallet, a bundle or a carton that must not come apart. Stretch wrap contains the outside of a pallet. Strap is the tension. The strapping category lists the coils and also the tools, seals, buckles and machines that apply them.
You need the coil and the way of closing it. A coil without seals or a tool that welds the strap does not finish the job.
Polypropylene, polyester and steel
The category describes standard polypropylene plastic strapping in 12 mm, for hand and machine coils, 16 mm polyester strapping, and heavy duty steel strapping. Polypropylene is the general plastic strap. Polyester is the stronger plastic. Steel is the one for the heaviest loads.
It says polypropylene hand coils are available in 1,000 m, 1,500 m and 2,000 m, with breaking strains from 135 kg to 310 kg. Pick the length that matches how fast you use the coil, and the breaking strain that matches the load. A longer coil is not a stronger strap.
Tools, seals and machines
Hand tools, seals and buckles are listed with the coils. Kits group a starter set. Strapping machinery, including semi-automatic and fully automatic machines and friction-weld tools, is also in the systems category. A friction weld closes polyester or polypropylene without a metal seal. Steel still needs the seals and the tool made for steel.
Do not mix a polypropylene seal with a steel strap, or a hand tool with a machine coil, unless that combination is what the product is sold for. The category splits hand coils and machine coils for that reason.
