Tape closes the pack
Tape is the closer. It does not cushion the goods and it does not fill a void. A carton that is the right size, with the contents held still, still needs a seal that survives the courier. The tapes category splits that job into brown packing tape, clear tape, printed tape, vinyl, reinforced tapes, paper tapes and guns.
Match the tape to the board and to how many cartons you seal. A light postal box and a double wall removal carton are not the same seal.
Brown, clear and printed
Brown packing tape is the general tape for cardboard. Clear tape is the one to use when the board is printed or white and a brown strip would show. Printed tapes, including fragile messages, are in their own category so the warning is on the seal rather than on a separate label.
Coloured tapes and custom printed tapes are listed separately when the seal itself is part of the branding. PayPal branded tape, including the recyclable white kraft paper tape, lives in the PayPal range rather than in the plain brown tapes.
Stronger tapes and paper tapes
Vinyl tapes are the extra-strength PVC tapes. Crossweave tapes are the reinforced cloth tapes. Extra length rolls are listed on their own when the issue is how often you change a roll, not how strong the tape is. Masking tape and double-sided tape are not carton sealers.
Kraft paper tape and gummed paper tape are the paper seals. Gummed paper tape is water-activated tape. The category stocks the Xtegra range in standard and reinforced versions, plus dispensers. The eco-friendly page describes that tape as 100% recycled paper, biodegradable and recyclable, with a seal that has to tear the tape to open. Water-activated tape machines are in the systems category.
Guns and machines
A tape gun is worth it when someone is sealing cartons all day. Handheld guns and dispensers are in the tapes category. Case tapers and water-activated tape machines are in systems, for a bench that already has the volume to justify a machine.
